Geneva – Zurich – Zug: Taurus SA (Taurus) is pleased to announce that it has integrated the Tezos protocol into its digital asset infrastructure that includes Taurus-PROTECT, its leading digital asset custody solution for banks, asset managers, and exchanges, as well as Taurus-EXPLORER, its blockchain as a service connectivity infrastructure. This is the first step of several strategic initiatives.
The Tezos Foundation (“TF”) and Taurus entered a multi-faceted strategic cooperation in Q4 2019 with the objectives to grow the Tezos ecosystem and provide secure access to the Tezos blockchain to potential issuers of security tokens.
As a result of a successful first phase of collaboration, Taurus’ clients will be able to securely store and transfer Tezos tokens (XTZ). These clients include financial institutions such as investment banks, crypto-banks, private banks, and universal banks, as well as technology companies. This answers a growing demand from banking institutions for blockchain protocols that use proof-of-stake mechanisms and provide robust smart contract capabilities. In addition, staking features are being integrated in order to provide clients with the possibility to obtain staking awards on tokens.
The use of Tezos in capital markets has been growing with major announcements by large institutional players in South America, Europe and Asia. The second phase of the collaboration between the Tezos Foundation and Taurus has already begun and consists of enhancing Taurus’ existing infrastructure to integrate capital markets use cases and transactions based on the Tezos protocol. More details will be announced in due time.
Ryan Jesperson, President Tezos Foundation: “It is the Tezos Foundation’s mission to help promote the long-term success of the Tezos project and ecosystem. The strategic cooperation with Taurus to integrate the Tezos protocol into their digital asset infrastructure and also to add delegation and baking (staking) support will contribute to Tezos’ adoption by institutional players.”
JP. Aumasson, Taurus co-founder and Head of Security: “I would like to thank the Tezos Foundation for their trust in our multi-faceted project and for the great collaboration. We share similar values when it comes to technical excellence and robustness and I’m confident this collaboration will be a success. I’m looking forward to providing our clients with new opportunities to issue and manage Tezos- based digital assets by leveraging Taurus’ technology."
Taurus-PROTECT is an on-premise, enterprise-grade, digital asset storage solution that uses FIPS 140-2 level 3 certified hardware security modules (HSMs), some of the most secure hardware in the world. It has been developed internally by Taurus and is the leading solution in Switzerland.

Tezos is a blockchain that improves by upgrading itself. Stakeholders vote on amendments to the protocol to reach social consensus on proposals, creating a secure and organic upgrading system. The protocol’s on-chain governance system, Proof-of-Stake (PoS), and ability to facilitate formal verification make Tezos an ideal long-term solution for high-value digital transactions. Tezos is fully decentralized and it is the role of the Tezos Foundation to support the development and long-term success of the protocol and ecosystem.
